The 5 Primary Kinetic Chains (5PKC) are based on the theorem behind Andry Vleeming’s Core Subsystems and how those subsystems connect the entire fascial fabric through the kinetic chains. Each chart outlines a primary physiological principle in movement: bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and fascia do not work in isolation. They work synergistically to create movement. When movement is balanced and efficient, the players are all cooperating.
This beautifully illustrated laminated 11×17 five poster set uses the walking gait to demonstrate how The 5 Primary Kinetic Chains work together to unify the body. Why use walking as a barometer of health, movement, and vitality? Simply because it is the one thing that most of us do daily and are either doing so – integrated, which boosts vitality, or compensated – which is detracting from vitality.
When looking at the human potential perspective, the integration of the 5PKC and the Principal Actions (explained in greater detail here) are a baseline for our health. Clean air, water, food, and movement are the foundation of our human existence. By looking at our anatomy through the lens of movement, it offers a shift of how we are looking at the body. Rather than the traditional lens of looking at our anatomy muscle by muscle, the 5PKC allow us to see how a muscle/s interacts with the rest of the structure. Suddenly our lens opens and becomes the big picture. The 5PKC posters demonstrate how that interaction happens.
Each chart has been organized in an easy to follow format. The columns are organized to identify joint actions, prime movers, and synergists. Color is added to further discern the core subsystems, the prime movers and the synergists in both the charts and illustrations.
